Broad Street and the county seat

    City of Woodbury

Woodbury has been the county seat of Gloucester County for over two centuries, the city's history says, and several county offices stand on Broad Street. The courthouse at 1 North Broad Street was begun in 1885. The Friends Meeting House at 120 North Broad Street dates to about 1715. Woodbury's Broad Street Historic District was designated in 1988. An appraisal of an older Broad Street building records its age, its present use and any conversion from a house to offices or apartments.

City of Woodbury · its own school district

Woodbury was formed as a borough from Deptford Township land in 1854 and became a city in 1871. The city says it grew most between 1880 and 1900, largely on the Green family's patent medicine business. Woodbury City Public Schools serves the city, with Woodbury Junior-Senior High School. An appraisal in Woodbury looks first at sales inside the city line, where the same schools and the same tax rate apply.

    Deptford Township

Township of Deptford · borders Woodbury

Deptford Township borders Woodbury and is a separate municipality with its own schools and tax rate. Woodbury was formed as a borough from township land in 1854, and Westville was formed in 1914 partly from its land. Named places inside the township include Almonesson, Oak Valley, Jericho and Westville Grove. Its district is Deptford Township Schools, and the county's vocational high school, Gloucester County Institute of Technology, is in the township. An appraisal in Deptford names the community and draws sales from the township first.

    West Deptford Township

Township of West Deptford · borders Woodbury and the Delaware River

West Deptford Township borders Woodbury and reaches the Delaware River, across from Philadelphia. The township gives 1871 as its year of incorporation and counted 8,828 housing units in the 2010 census. Its named places include Thorofare, Verga and Colonial Manor, where Ladd's Castle on Lafayette Avenue is on the National Register. West Deptford takes part in the county's annual reassessment program. An appraisal there treats that yearly assessment as a tax figure, not as a sale price.

    Woodbury Heights

Borough of Woodbury Heights · borders Woodbury

Woodbury Heights borders Woodbury and has been its own borough since 1915. Its history page says a land company formed in 1892 bought ground west of the railroad from Deptford Township, then laid out the streets and built homes and a community hall in 1894. In 1906 two buyers took 185 acres east of the tracks and sold lots. Glen Lake, dammed for a lumber mill, was later given to the borough. The appraiser considers the location, age and condition of each house when deciding which sales help explain its value.

    Westville

Borough of Westville · on Big Timber Creek

Westville is a borough on Big Timber Creek, incorporated by an act approved April 7, 1914, from parts of Deptford and West Deptford Townships. Thomas West and his wife built the old West house on River Drive, the borough's history says. Like West Deptford, Westville takes part in the county's annual reassessment program. An appraisal in Westville checks the FEMA flood map for any lot near the creek and starts with sales inside the borough.

    National Park

Borough of National Park · on the Delaware River

National Park sits on the Delaware River and became a borough on April 15, 1902, from part of West Deptford Township. From 1895 it was developed as National Park on the Delaware, a religious resort for members of the Methodist Episcopal Church, the borough says. Fort Mercer stood here, and at the Battle of Red Bank on October 22, 1777, its defenders repelled a Hessian attack. Red Bank Battlefield is on the National Register. An appraisal near the river checks the flood map and the lot's frontage.

    Wenonah

Borough of Wenonah · a town planned in 1871

Wenonah was planned in 1871 on more than 572 acres of farmland, around a station of the West Jersey Railroad. The Mantua Land and Improvement Company, incorporated February 21, 1871, marked out squares of building lots 75 by 150 feet and made Mantua Avenue 100 feet wide, the borough's history says. Memorial Presbyterian Church on East Mantua Avenue joined the National Register in 2013. An appraisal in Wenonah notes whether a lot keeps its original width or has been split or combined.

The RPR report shows the median sold price up 7.6% and the sales count up 13% from the prior month. Different homes sell each month, so these changes do not measure the appreciation of an individual home.

Source: Realtors Property Resource, Sold Listings, September 2026; Woodbury, New Jersey; single-family plus condo, townhouse and apartment filter; accessed October 7, 2026.

These figures cover one month in one city. RPR counted 26 Woodbury sales for September 2026 using its filter for single-family homes plus condos, townhouses and apartments. A small sample can move noticeably with only a few higher- or lower-priced sales. It is not an appraisal of a particular home.

The property still needs its own analysis.

Provide records about additions, major repairs and unusual features. Comparable sales should help explain differences in size, condition, location and the market relevant to the assignment date.
